Buffalo Cauliflower Wings

Like a lot of yummy things, once something has been battered and fried to a golden brown we have all become suddenly more interested.

Call these guys whatever you want but these buffalo cauliflower wings are a classic at every summer get together and always ends up making someone a believer that plant based versions can be just as good as the real thing !

Buffalo Cauliflower Wings

Serves 2

Ingredients -

1 - head of cauliflower

1/4 cup - sliced green onions

Ingredients - Batter

1 cup - plant based milk

1 tbsp - apple cider vinegar

1/4 cup - water

1 cup - all purpose flour

1 tbsp - corn starch

1/4 tsp - celery salt, garlic powder, salt, pepper

Ingredients - Breading

1 cup - all purpose flour

1 tsp - salt

Ingredients - Buffalo Sauce

1/4 cup - melted vegan butter

3/4 cup - franks red hot sauce

Instructions

Step 1 - Prep the cauliflower

Chop off the florets from the stem and reserve them in a bowl for later.

Step 2 - Prepare batter and breading

Measure out the dry and wet ingredients in 2 separate bowls and set up a heavy gauge pot with oil and allow that to heat up to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

I also like to get a sheetpan with parchment paper to put all my breaded cauliflower florets before frying.

Step 3 - Dip n coat the cauliflower

Dip each floret in the batter, shake off the excess batter, plop it in the dry breading, shake off the excess flower and place on a sheet try until all have been breaded and are ready to be fried.

Step 4 - Fry

Once the oil has reached 350 degrees Fahrenheit I drop in about 5-6 at a time. While that’s going I prepare the buffalo sauce by melting the butter and mixing the buffalo sauce in.

Step 5 - Toss n the sauce

Once all the florets have been fried I let them drain off that excess oil on a plate with paper towel. In a large bowl add in the fried cauliflower florets and pour over the buffalo sauce and toss the wings until nicely covered.

Step 6 - Plate

Transfer the wings to a bowl or plate and top with sliced green onions and enjoy.
