Spiced Pomegranate Mocktail

If you are looking to drink a little less this new years but are looking to treat yourself at the same time - this is my spiced pomegranate mocktail that’s just in time for dry January for all my babes that are tryna cut back.

Complete with a tequila alternative for those who want all the taste without the hangover.

Spiced Pomegranate Mocktail

Makes 1 Mocktail in a Shaker or Mason Jar

Ingredients - Mocktail

1/4 cup - pomegranate juice

1/4 cup - orange juice

1/4 cup - Ritual tequila alternative

1 tbsp - maple syrup

1/2 tsp - vanilla extract

a pinch of ground cinnamon + ginger + cayenne

1/4 cup - ginger beer ( or fill to the top )

Ingredients - Spiced Sugar Rim

1/4 cup - sugar

1 1/2 tbsp - coarse salt

1 tbsp - lime zest

1/4 tsp - ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp - tajin

2 tbsp - maple syrup mixed with 1 tbsp water to use as a sticky solution for the sugar rim.

Garnish

Frozen Cranberries

Sprigs of Rosemary

What you will need

  • A Cocktail Shaker or Mason Jar

Instructions

Step 1 - Mise en place + make the sugar rim

There is nothing worse than going to make something and realizing you don’t have the stuff !

On a little plate measure out the sugar, salt, lime zest, cinnamon and tajin and give that a good mix to combine. For the sticky maple mixture, simply mix some maple syrup with a bit of water to act as a glue for the sugar rim. Select your glasses, dip into the maple solution and then dip into the sugar mixture then set aside for later.

Step 2 - Measure out the juices + make the mocktail

To make the assembly part more stream lined, measure out the juices and have them ready to go. If you have a cocktail shaker - feel free to use that….I didn’t and improvised with a mason jar and it worked perfectly. Into your shaker or jar, pour in the pomegranate and orange juice along with the tequila alternative if you happen to be using that. Pour in the maple syrup, vanilla and spices before securing the lid and giving it all a good shake. Once everything is frothy and thoroughly mixed, grab the glass with the sugared rim, pop in some ice and pour in this juice mixture. To finish
